# To table

> Turn a JSON of records or columns into a dataframe.

Turns a JSON of records or columns into a frame, as `orient` says it is shaped.

## Parameters

### `orient`

`"columns" | "records"` · required · defaults to `"records"`

Whether the JSON side is an array of row objects or an object of column arrays.

## Inputs

| Port | Kind | Required | Description |
| ------ | ------- | -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `on` | `event` | no | Implicit on every module that does not itself start a flow: wire an event here to make this module the start of what that event runs. |
| `json` | `json` | yes | An array of row objects, or an object of column arrays. |

## Outputs

| Port | Kind | Connects to | Description |
| ------ | ----------- | --------------------- | ----------------------- |
| `data` | `dataframe` | `dataframe`, `signal` | The frame it describes. |
