# Emit event

> Publish a named application event with a JSON payload for other applications to subscribe to.

Publishes a named event other applications in this workspace can start a flow from.

The publish half of the pair OnAppEvent subscribes to, and the seam that lets applications compose without one importing the other. Durable only: the emit has to outlive the run that made it.

## Parameters

### `name`

`string` · required · defaults to `""`

The event name subscribers listen for.
