Google Drive

Import Google Sheets, Docs and files you pick from a Google Drive. Authentication is a Google sign-in, and access is limited to the files you pick; the rest of the Drive stays private.

Setting up the connection

  1. In the Import Manager, click the Google Drive card and name the connection.

  2. Pick the OAuth app the connection signs in through. A deployment that ships its own Google registration offers it as a platform app; otherwise an organisation administrator registers one under Organisation settings, or adds it from Add app here.

  3. Click Connect. A Google sign-in window opens; allow pop-ups for the site if it is blocked.

  4. Once linked, Account connected names the Google account whose files are read, the app it signed in through, and the granted scopes. Reconnect relinks, Disconnect drops the link, and Refresh status rechecks it.

There are no credential fields: the link to your Google account is the credential, and it is renewed automatically while imports and queries run.

Importing data

Click Pick files from Google Drive to open Google's file chooser and select files. What each pick becomes:

Picked file
Becomes

Google Sheet (first tab), CSV, Excel, JSON Lines, Parquet

A tabular source

Google Doc, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text

A document source

Import modes

Full Import, Full Import + Live, Recent Rows and Time Period. Scheduled syncs re-read the picked files. Query Directly is not available. See Connectors.

Troubleshooting

The sign-in window was blocked

  • Allow pop-ups for this site and try again

File chooser not configured

  • The OAuth app needs the Google Picker API enabled in its Google Cloud project, and its Google Picker browser API key and Google Cloud project number filled in on the app; ask an organisation administrator. A platform app can take them from the deployment's GOOGLE_PICKER_API_KEY and GOOGLE_PROJECT_NUMBER instead

This account needs to be reconnected

  • Consent was withdrawn at Google, or the app's settings changed. Click Reconnect and approve it again

A file stopped syncing

  • The Drive file may have been deleted or unshared from the linked account
